Vikram Sharma sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail, Police pray for seven day remand

Jamshedpur, April 19 : Gangster Akhilesh Singh’s mentor Vikram Sharma who was arrested from Dehradun on Thursday night, was sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail after his production before the court of additional district judge XII on Wednesday.

Sharma (45) a resident of Dehradun had been brought here on a transit remand on Tuesday and was produced before the court of Ramesh Chandra where a warrant was pending against him in connection to the Om PrakashKabra murder case.
Deputy superintendent of police (crime control room) Subodh Kumar said while producing before the court, they have prayed for seven day police remand for Sharma.

” We want to gather all information from him. We have prayed for seven day police remand for Sharma who is to be grilled in connection with his link with gangster Akhilesh Singh and the latter’s criminal activities in the steel city and else where in the country,” said Kumar.

Sources said the police will also soon initiate legal procedure to get landed properties of the gangster spread across various cities with the help of Sharma.

Police gathered from document procured from Akhilesh’sShristy Garden residential flat in Baridih on March 29 had made the PrashantAnandSP (City) to focus on Dehradun where the gangster’s mentor was supposed to have been staying.

As Akhilesh was in touch with Sharma constantly, the police suspect he (Sharma) might have been known much about the gangster’s whereabouts. During 2002 and 2008 Sharma was made accused in more than a dozen criminal case.

Incidentally, Vikram Sharma had been absconding ever since his involvement came up the shoe baron AshishDey murder (early 2008) and did not venture to city to evade police arrest.

Sources in the underworld revealed that the fugitive has amassed crores or rupees by perpetuating the criminal activities, which was focused on the `extortion’ from the businessmen and traders, and even the corporate houses.

He used to run his `business’ through a syndicate of criminals which has an effective strength of over 100 members.

He has even invested the money earned from the extortions in real estate business in Jamshedpur and several other cities in Jharkhand and Bihar.
