Vigyan Rath promotes scientific awareness at CSIR-NML Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The Vigyan Rath, an initiative aimed at popularizing science and research, visited CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, as part of its journey across schools, colleges and communities.

The mobile science exhibition was inaugurated on February 14, 2025, by Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary, DSIR, Govt. of India and Director General, CSIR, from CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar. It focuses on the Mining, Minerals, Metals and Materials (4M) theme, with 25 CSIR laboratories working on sustainable mineral and metal resource utilization.

During its visit to CSIR-NML, Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML, emphasized the importance of science outreach programs in national development. “The Vigyan Rath plays a crucial role in spreading scientific knowledge and highlighting CSIR’s contributions to nation-building,” he said.

The Rath, accompanied by scientists and technical officers from CSIR-NML and CSIR-IMMT, visited St. Peter’s English School, PM Shree Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tatanagar, Jamshedpur Women’s College and Co-operative College, Jamshedpur. Students actively engaged with scientists and expressed great enthusiasm for the initiative.

The Vigyan Rath will continue its journey, fostering scientific awareness and innovation in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047
