Jamshedpur, August 2: The CBSE Cluster-3 Basketball Tournament (2025–26), hosted by Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Telco Colony, Jamshedpur, concluded on August 2 with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The five-day event, held from July 29 to August 2, witnessed the participation of 1,563 players forming 172 teams from around 79 CBSE-affiliated schools across Bihar and Jharkhand. Seventy coaches also joined the event, contributing to its competitive and spirited atmosphere.
The closing ceremony took place in a dignified setting with Colonel Vinay Ahuja, Commanding Officer of the 37 Jharkhand Battalion, as the chief guest. He officially declared the tournament closed. Principal Mrs. Meena Vilkhu graced the occasion as the special guest along with Mr. Vishnu Chandra Dixit, Secretary of the School Management Committee. Also present were CBSE Supervisor Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh from DAV Model School, CFRI, Dhanbad, and Technical Reviewer Mr. Dhananjay Singh from Kerali School, Ranchi.
The tournament concluded with prize distribution for the winners and runners-up across six categories. In the Under-19 category, JVM Shyamli, Ranchi emerged as winners in the girls’ segment, while MGM Bokaro took the top spot in the boys’ division. The runner-up positions were claimed by the host school Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur (Girls), and DPS Bokaro (Boys). In the Under-17 category, DPS Gaya secured the girls’ title, and Sri Ayyappa Public School, Bokaro won the boys’ segment. Under-14 winners included Sri Ayyappa Public School, Bokaro (Girls), and GD Mother International School, Muzaffarpur (Boys).
Individual excellence was also recognized. The “Player of the Tournament” awards went to Sejal Singh (U-14 Girls), Ayush Kumar Singh (U-14 Boys), Priya Kumari (U-17 Girls), Pratyush Kumar (U-17 Boys), Ashmi Singh (U-19 Girls), and Nikhil Kumar (U-19 Boys). A Special Appreciation Award was presented to Aarav Dokaniya of Chinmaya Vidyalaya.
Speaking at the event, Principal Meena Vilkhu said the tournament was not only a showcase of sports talent but also a medium for cultivating values like discipline, cooperation, competition, and leadership. She credited the organizing committee, school staff, technical team, and student volunteers for the event’s grand success.
