Jamshedpur: Members of Jharkhand Street Vendors Union launched an awareness campaign in the vegetable market close to Shitla Mandir in Sakchi on Saturday. The roadside vendors were informed about the benefits of footpath vendor identity card. They were asked to get their identity card from the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee as soon as possible.
During the campaign, it was found that the agency that had conducted a survey of footpath vendors had not done its work properly. Several shop owners and vendors have not been surveyed, alleged the campaigners.
The outfit members said most of the identity cards had wrong photo and other errors. They said the details filled in by the agency members would soon be rectified.
The outfit president Pankaj Srivastava said the shop-owners and vendors who had not been surveyed had been asked to apply for identity cards. He assured to help the vendors in whatever manner possible. He was accompanied by secretary Uttam Chakravarty and town vending committee member Arun Dubey.
