Jamshedpur: Potka MLA Menka Sardar raised the issue pertaining to the demand for second state language status for Bhumij in the Jharkhand Assembly during a discussion on Rajbhasha (Amendment) Bill. Her proposal was accepted by the minister in-charge Neelkanth Singh Munda.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said a Bihar Rajbhasha (Jharkhand Amendment) Bill 2018 had been tabled in the Assembly for including Magahi, Maithili, Bhojpuri and Angika in the list of second state language of Jharkhand. She proposed that the Bill should be changed as Jharkhand Rajbhasha (Amendment) Bill. She further demanded inclusion of Bhumij along with Mundari and Ho languages in the second state language list.
The minister in-charge thanked and congratulated Menka Sardar for her proposal. He said the government had accepted the proposal.
Members of Bhumij Samaj too, congratulated the Potka legislator for raising the issue.
