Vehicle breakdown forces cops to escort criminal on foot in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 24: In a dramatic turn of events, notorious criminal Nishar Hasan alias Nishu, a resident of Bistupur South Park, was brought to court under tight security after a brief disruption caused by a police vehicle breakdown. Hasan, the prime accused in the high-profile Pawan Yadav murder case of Mango, was arrested at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport during an immigration check while returning from Bahrain. His arrest was made possible due to a Lookout Circular issued earlier with the assistance of the Union Home Ministry.

After being brought to Jamshedpur from Delhi, Hasan was kept in custody at the Mango police station. On Tuesday, while being taken to the court, the police vehicle developed a technical snag near Mango Chowk. With time running short and security concerns rising, police were forced to escort the accused on foot to MGM Hospital, located nearby.

Mango Police Station in-charge Niranjan Kumar stated, “The police vehicle broke down suddenly near Mango Chowk. Considering the urgency, the accused was taken on foot to MGM Hospital. Once the vehicle was repaired near the hospital, he was again seated and taken to court.”

The incident has raised serious questions regarding police preparedness and security arrangements, especially when handling high-profile and dangerous criminals. Escorting a wanted accused on foot through a busy public area could have posed significant risks, including the possibility of an escape or attack.

However, police officials maintained that the situation was unforeseen and managed effectively. “The breakdown was unexpected, and there was no prior indication. We ensured enhanced security by deploying additional personnel at the scene,” an official said.

Hasan was later presented before the court.
