TV Narendran advocates use of AI to curb workplace mishaps

Jamshedpur, June 25: Tata Steel Managing Director and CEO T.V. Narendran on Tuesday said that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran could indirectly impact Tata Steel and may lead to a rise in steel prices. He was speaking to reporters after attending a programme organised by the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) at the Kudy Mahanty Auditorium in Kadma, Jamshedpur.

Narendran also expressed concern over the recent workplace accidents at Tata Steel. “These incidents are worrying, and we are taking every possible step to prevent them. We are now using Artificial Intelligence to enhance safety and make Tata Steel a safer place to work,” he said.

He added that Tata Steel is committed to the development of Jamshedpur. However, he emphasized that other companies, the government, and local residents must also contribute to efforts aimed at improving the city and ensuring its growth.

75th Foundation Day celebrations of SCCI

Earlier, addressing the gathering Narendran emphasized the importance of adapting to change in industry and business to keep pace with evolving times. He was addressing the 75th Foundation Day celebrations of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) D.B. Sundara Ramam also attended the event.

SCCI President Vijay Anand Moonka, Vice President Punit Kauntia, General Secretary Manav Kedia were also present. On behalf of the Chamber, Anshul Ringsia felicitated the Tata Steel MD.

In his address, Narendran said it was a proud moment that the Chamber had completed 75 years. He highlighted the need for industries and entrepreneurs to adapt to changing conditions and technologies, particularly with the rise of digital platforms and transformations in sectors like electronics and automobiles. “To take business forward, it is essential that businesspeople change with the times,” he remarked. He also reiterated Tata Steel’s commitment to the development of Jamshedpur, stressing that the cooperation of the government, companies, and the public is crucial for the city’s progress.

As part of the celebration, several young entrepreneurs and businesses were honored. Among them was Pankaj Agarwal, proprietor of Innovixa Services Private Limited, who was felicitated by the Tata Steel MD and congratulated for his achievements.

Other companies recognized included Zenith Engineering Company, JCPL, Chanduka Minerals, Khaitan Group, and several others. Individuals from prominent business families and former chairmen, including Jehan Patel, Ashok Sultania, Kilol Kamani, and the Bhalotia and Sultania families, were also honored during the ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the Chamber’s history.
