Vedanta to appoint officers at Incab Jamshedpur, operations to resume soon

Jamshedpur: Vedanta Limited has initiated the process of reviving operations at its cable manufacturing unit, Incab Industries, with plans to appoint officers and re-engage workers following directions from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The move marks a significant step toward restarting industrial activity at the long-idle facility.

According to sources, Vedanta has accelerated the acquisition process after receiving NCLT approval and has begun preparations to resume operations at the cable company. Notices have been issued inviting applications for various senior and technical positions, including roles such as manager, engineer, and other key supervisory posts, primarily for the Jamshedpur and Pune plants.

The company has also announced that around 300 former employees, found suitable for work, will be given an opportunity to rejoin. In addition to cable production, Vedanta is also planning to restart the manufacturing of wire rods, signaling a phased revival of full-scale industrial operations.

As per the NCLT directive, the process of cutting and removing old cable stock across nearly 90 locations has been expedited. Work has already begun, with security personnel deployed at the factory premises. Cleaning and maintenance activities have also started, and the entry of outsiders into the company campus has now been completely restricted to ensure safety and smooth operations.

Officials confirmed that Vedanta representatives recently visited the cable company’s premises to review the progress. The company aims to stabilize operations gradually, with consultants initially overseeing the process before full-scale management control is restored.

The revival of the cable unit is expected to generate employment opportunities and bring renewed economic activity to the region, offering relief to workers who have been awaiting the restart of operations for several years.
