Jamshedpur: MLA of Jamshedpur West Saryu Roy emphasized the need for responsible and fact-based journalism, stating that the media, as the fourth pillar of democracy, must uphold accuracy and integrity while presenting news. He said journalists carry a major responsibility in shaping public opinion and strengthening democratic values.
Saryu Roy was addressing the gathering after inaugurating a poetry symposium and felicitation ceremony organized on Thursday evening at Tulsi Bhavan in Bistupur to mark the third anniversary of the 24 Yash Khabar news channel. The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries from the fields of journalism, literature, and politics.
The programme formally began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, MLA Saryu Roy, along with special guest Vikas Singh.
Proprietor of the news channel Manoj Sharma delivered the welcome address and shared the three-year journey of the channel, highlighting its growth, challenges and achievements. In his address, Saryu Roy said that he regularly watches the channel and elaborated on the ethical values of journalism and its vital role in society.
On the occasion of the channel’s anniversary, all the guests and dignitaries present were felicitated with shawls, medals, and certificates of appreciation for their contribution and presence.
