Jamshedpur: Members of Kasodhan Vaisya Samaj took mass pledge to oppose dowry system and promote girl child education and Swachhata Abhiyan during the Holi Milan function of the community held here on Sunday at Burmamines.
The participants at the function said there an urgent need for the members of Vaisya community to promote the education and well-being of girls and women. They said the dowry system was holding the community members back.
They further said that the �Beti Bachao Beti Padhao� and Swachhata Abhiyan call given by the government should be intensified so that the community reaps their benefits.
The Holi Milan function started off with the outfit president Parshuram Sao offering abir-gulal to god. Members of Imleswari Nath and team presented Fagua songs to celebrate the onset of Falgun.
The chief guest of the occasion was Pawan Agrawal, representative of Jamshedpur East MLA cum CM Raghubar Das, Anil Modi, Zila Parishad vice president Rajkumar Singh, social worker Pradip Guha and Ranjeet Burman.
