Jamshedpur: Overnight leader Simarjeet Singh and teammate Samarth Dwivedi reversed their previous round scores to extend their lead to five strokes over Haryana �B� at the halfway stage of the Tata Steel Inter State Golf Championship 2014 being played here at the Par 71 Golmuri Golf Course.
The young guns of Haryana �B� put up a spirited fight with Yuvraj Sandhu carding three-under par 68 and Anant Singh Ahlawat scoring a second consecutive one-under par 70. Team Karnataka �B� is placed three strokes behind in third place with the help of Trishul Chinnappa�s four-under par 67.
Udayan Mane of Karnataka �A� surged to the top of the individual leaderboard to join overnight co leader Harimohan Singh of Uttar Pradesh �C� at a gross score of seven-under par 135 when he shot four-under par 67 for the day. The day�s best card was however bought in by Karnataka �C�s Rahul Ravi and Sahil Kumar Singh who both shot five-under par 66 for the day.
Udayan, who holds the course record of a ten-under par 61 here, began with a string of pars before a timely birdie on the Par 3 5th hole got him going. Another birdie on the Par 5 9th hole followed as he went out two-under par for the day and five-under par for the week. From the 10th hole he made alternate pars and birdies to go four-under for the day and closed out with five consecutive pars for a bogey free second round. Co-leader Harimohan dropped two strokes but gained five on his way to a round of three-under par 68.
Burly lad Udayan said, �I�ve been here before and won here before, so it gives me confidence to go out and do the job over the next two days.� He added, �However, the scoring this week has been very competitive and a lot of brilliant players are in contention when I look over my shoulder.�
