Jamshedpur, April 14: Utkal Divas, marking the foundation day of Odisha state, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Club House Hall of Vijaya Gardens on Monday. The event was organized by Odia women of the community and showcased the rich cultural heritage of Odisha.
Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu attended the function as the chief guest. In her address, she praised Odisha’s unique cultural identity, highlighting the Odissi dance, Sambalpuri traditions.
The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before the image of Lord Jagannath. Attendees also sang “Bande Utkala Janani,” paying tribute to the motherland.
The event was conducted by Swati Patnaik, with active support from Sadhana Mahanthy, Ekta Mishra, Priyanka Priyavashini, Arun Mahanthy, Prakash Bastiya, Prof. Vidhu Bhushan Bhusruya, and Prashant Raut. Children including Bisha Mahadi, Samriddhi Bhoi, Aradhya Das, Asutosh Mahanthy, and Asvi Pradhan captivated the audience with their performances.
Vice President of Utkal Association Badal Bhuiyan and Treasurer Manish Das were felicitated. Guests enjoyed traditional Odia cuisine late into the night.
