Jamshedpur, March 17: Uttar Pradesh’s police conducted search operation in Jamshedpur and nabbed wife of criminal Anuj Kannaujia and his associate, both linked to notorious mafia Mukhtar Ansari from their hideouts in Barigoda in Parsudih.
Police arrested Reena Rai, wife of Anuj while his associate Shivratan Rajak, who is a resident of Barigoda.
Uttar Pradesh has been searching for Anuj Kannaujiya for five years. The arrested Shivratan Rajak is a temporary employee in the foundry division of Tata Motors and is a relative of the sharp shooter Anuj Kannaujia.
Fearing the encounter by the UP police, the gangster and and his wife and relatives had fled and had taken shelter in Jamshedpur itself.
Anuj Kannaujia is close to former MLA Mukhtar Ansari and has also been a sharp shooter. The police there were searching for his wife Reena Rai, whose mobile location was found in Barigoda, after which the police reached her and her relative Rajak, who had provided the SIM card, was also arrested. It is said that the Mau police of Uttar Pradesh are continuously conducting raids to nab Anuj Kannaujiya and his wife. But she had been changing the SIM continuously.
It is said that the SIM card was provided by Shivratan Rajak only, through which he used to collect extortion money. It is said that the SIM card from which extortion was sought was issued from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, through which extortion of Rs 1 lakh was sought from Hansnath Yadav, manager of Bholanath Inter College, resident of Hiranpur village. A case has been registered in this matter.
Police investigated in a very technical way, after which police arrested Shivratan Rajak and took him to Mau police.
Sub-Inspector Kamla Patel of Mau Police Station and her team came here and caught him and took him away. Shivratan Rajak is a relative of Anuj Kannaujiya and used to provide SIM cards from here. Anuj Kannaujia, the sharp shooter of Mukhtar Ansari, a resident of Bahalolpur in Chirayakot area of Mau district of Uttar Pradesh, is absconding for the last five years. Police has declared a reward against him. On February 28, Hansnath Yadav, a resident of Hiranpur Kamthari of Chirayakot area, filed a case of extortion against Anuj Kannaujia, his wife Reena Rai and his other relative.
After this, the police also arrested Reena Rai from Jharkhand itself, after which raids were conducted along with sub-inspector Kamla Prasad Patel, head constable Dilip Patel, constable Rinku Kumar, women constables Prabhavati and Saroj of Chiraiya Kot police station in Mau district. After which, after presenting him in Jamshedpur court, the police took him on transit remand.
