Jamshedpur: 20 thousand from four states to attend Harina Sarhul Fest on March 24

Jamshedpur, March 17: More than 20,000 people from Jharkhand, Assam, Odisha and West Bengal will attend the Dishuva Hadi Bonga-2023 (Sarhul Festival) to be organized at Harina Dishum Jairathan under Kowali Police Station in Potka Block on Friday, March 24.  A grand pandal had been planned for the festival. Six towers for decorative lighting, a hi-tech central stage and food arrangements for all will be made among other amenities and provisions.

A meeting of the National Bhumij Sarhul Festival Organizing Committee chaired by Sripati Sardar was held during which Kowali PS In-charge, Ranjit Oraon was also present to advise on law and order maintenance during the Sarhul festival.

Administrative arrangements were reviewed for success of the event. A team of 150 volunteers comprising young men and women will be deputed. T-shirts for the male volunteers and sarees to their female counterparts will be given to be used as uniforms. Sarhul Puja will be performed in the morning on March 24 under the supervision of Dishom Naya Sushant Sardar. After the puja rituals, a procession would be taken out. Sarhul dance by various teams would be organized after 3 pm. The evening programme that would commence from 7 pm include performances by  Romesh Orchestra (Traditional and Modern Orchestra) from Lagurasai, folk singer from Assam Makar Singh Bhumij, traditional folk singer of West Bengal Nrityalal Singh and Paiko Singh from Odisha.
