Saraikela, March 26:  It has been said that some truths are stranger than fiction. Yet, there are things and events that challenge beliefs. These are truths that change the course of beliefs. It was believed by some segments of know-alls that Anganwadis were nothing less than white elephants that served their purposes less and gulped down more from the government exchequers.

One Anganwadi centre in far-flung Chhediapahadi, a hub of extremist elements, is an eye opener. Chhediapahadi is in Kudma Panchayat of Rajnagar Block. Anganwadi Sevika, Bagi Hembram, by dint of her sheer will power, has ensured that each wall of this centre is converted into a complete book. The innovation of Bagi Hembram has made learning fun for 30 odd children who come to this Chhediapahadi Anganwadi Centre. Apart from their books, the kids gloat over the related characters, birds and animals that have been drawn in a manner to give visions a touch of reality. What these little minds learn from books, get wings when they learn ‘off the walls’ and bring their imaginations face to face with reality. Alphabets supported by pictures on walls give more than a touch of fun to their learning. And they learn fast and well.

Chhediapahadi is a hamlet of 800 individuals and 30 among them are these children who have been initiated into ‘addictive learning’ introduced by Anganwadi Sevika, Bagi Hembram who has underlined the adage of ‘where there is a will, there is a way.’ Bagi is the ‘will’ and the children, the ‘way.’
