1988 to be the cut-off year for land bandobasti on govt land, says CM
Jamshedpur, April 1: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today declared that the state government would legalize the lease bandobasti of government lands occupied since the year 1988 onwards after a period of 30 years. He said those having possession of government land in the year 1988 would be given lease rights on the said land for a period of 30 years.
Das, speaking to scribes on his arrival in the city late Sunday evening, said the cut-off year for lease bandobasti would be 1988 and not 1985. He said he had successfully fulfilled his promise made by him in the year 1995. He said now the slums would no longer be known as unauthorized bastis or settlements as the government had decided to legalize them.
Das said the BJP and Basti Vikas Samiti had struggled for many years on the issue of ownership right for the residents of the 86 bastis of the city. He said a historic rally was taken out in the year 1998 in Jamshedpur in support of the ownership right demand. Hundreds of women had participated in the rally while carrying their kids with them, he said.
The CM said the former CM Babulal Marandi had failed to take up the lease issue in the three years of his tenure. Sibu Soren and Hemant Soren had also failed to do justice to the residents of the various bastis. Madhu Koda also did nothing in this direction, said the CM.
Das said the residents of Khasmahal lands would also get bandobasti rights. Nine districts would be benefitted from this, he said, adding that several Adivasi families of Parsudih would also get the benefit. For land bandobasti, a salami rent of Rs 20,000 would be payable for a land worth Rs 1 lakh. A sum of Rs 10,000 would be payable now while the remaining amount may be paid in the next 30 years, he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a campaign to provide homes to all Indians by 2022. Jharkhand government has a similar plan. We have provided homes to 27,000 additional families. Till 2022, no one will be allowed to remain homeless. PM Awas would be provided to all poor people in the slum areas, said the CM.
Das said the water supply project of the Tatas would begin this year. He said he had abolished dual system in company and non-company areas.
