Jamshedpur, Aug 6: Residents of Kadma, Sonari, and Bistupur areas have issued an ultimatum to the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) demanding resolution of cleanliness and civic issues by Sunday, August 10, failing which a protest with garbage would be held at the JNAC office on August 11 at 10 AM.
This warning came during a meeting held at the Bistupur office of MLA Saryu Roy, where local leaders and workers voiced strong resentment over JNAC’s continued inaction despite multiple memorandums and meetings. They alleged that assurances given by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner had proved hollow, and the condition had deteriorated further.
Participants highlighted the absence of fogging and bleaching during the rainy season thereby raising the threat of infectious diseases. Other concerns included non-functional street lights, poor door-to-door garbage collection, and absenteeism among sanitation staff, leading to widespread filth and public health risks.
The meeting condemned the contradiction between awards claimed by JNAC for cleanliness and the reality on the ground, where residents were forced to live in unsanitary conditions.
If action was not taken promptly, hundreds of residents and workers were prepared to stage a protest with garbage as a symbolic show of dissent.
Attendees included Subodh Srivastava, Mukul Mishra, Lalan Dwivedi, Bhim Singh, Rakesh Singh, Neeraj Singh, Dharmendra Prasad, Tarak Mukherjee, Munna Singh, Ajit Singh, Anuj Chaudhary, Ravi Thakur, Chunnu Bhumij, Raghavendra Pratap Singh (Jhunna), Sheshnath Pathak, and others.
