Jamshedpur: UCIL labour union, Singhbhum Uranium Mazdoor Union (SUMU) assistant secretary and leader of displaced persons� organization, Rajendra Singh died of cardiac arrest at 1:30 am. He was 48 years old. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Besides being an active trade union leader, Rajendra Singh was the voice of displaced persons. According to reports, he left his paternal home in Murgaghutu and went to sleep at his allotted quarter in Narwa UCIL Colony. At about 1 am he lost consciousness. His relatives said that he was taking irregular and long breaths. They and the neighbors rushed him to the UCIL Hospital in Narwa where doctors declared him dead.
The news of Rajendra Singh�s death left all sections of people in Jadugoda, Narwa Pahad and Potka shocked and sad. UCIL Deputy Manager D Hansda, Hiranmay Das, Vidya Sagar Das, Mukhiya Biltu Hansda, Rodia Soren, Budhrai Tudu, Shyam Soren and many others reached the late Rajendra Singh�s Murgaghutu residence to express sorrow.
