UCIL contract worker dies in Turamdih

Jadugora: A 23 year old man, identified as Sukhram Sardar, died in an accident at UCIL�s Turamdih Uranium Project, Jadugora, on Tuesday.

Sources said the incident occurred around 4 am when Sardar, a contract worker, was working near a conveyor belt near pulley number 1. Sardar was trying to remove a chunk of Uranium ore caught in the conveyor belt with the help of a spade.

Just then, the spade got stuck in the conveyor machine and subsequently Sardar was also caught in the conveyor belt. The victim died at the scene. He was a resident of Tetlapora village of Potka.
