Jamshedpur, Aug 22: Acting on a tip-off, Bagbera police arrested two dreaded criminals during a raid at the Railway High School ground on Wednesday night (August 20). The operation, led by police at around 8 pm, foiled a major criminal conspiracy.
Those arrested were identified as Badshah Khan alias Raja (30), a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Baghbera and Vishnu Singh alias Anda (25), a resident of Kiraditoli, Chandal Patti, Baghbera. Police recovered a loaded country-made pistol with magazine and a live 7.65 mm cartridge from Khan. During interrogation, he admitted they were planning to commit murder.
Police sources revealed that Khan has a long criminal history with more than 11 cases of theft, loot and illegal possession of arms registered against him since 2007 at Baghbera police station.
The raid was conducted by a team led by SHO Gopal Krishna Yadav, along with Sub-Inspectors Alok Kumar and Shivnath Morchi and Constable Teju Ram.
Both accused have been booked under Section 313 of the BNI Act, 2023 and Sections 25(1-b)a/26/35 of the Arms Act and subsequently sent to jail. “These criminals were behind several incidents in the locality. Their arrest will help restore peace in the area,” said SHO Yadav.
