Two Killed in Truck-Trailer Fire After Collision on Hata-Chaibasa Road

Seraikela-Kharsawan: A horrific road accident claimed two lives and left two others injured on Monday late night on the Hata-Chaibasa main road between Rola and Khairbani villages in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

The incident took place when three trucks laden with iron ore were traveling toward Hata. Just as they crossed Rola village, the leading truck collided head-on with a trailer coming from the opposite direction.

Both vehicles caught fire on impact. Trapped inside the mangled cabin of the truck, the driver could not escape and was burnt alive on the spot. Local residents managed to pull out the trailer driver after a gruelling rescue effort, but he succumbed to severe burn injuries while being rushed to Chaibasa for medical treatment.

The disaster quickly escalated for the vehicles trailing closely behind. Unable to brake in time, two other iron-ore-laden trucks lost control and rammed into the crash site from behind. The impact caused both trucks to veer off the road and overturn into the roadside ditches, leaving both drivers injured.

The multi-vehicle collision caused panic and disrupted traffic. Upon receiving information, local police rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations with the help of nearby residents. Fire tenders arrived at the scene to douse the flames, but the vehicles were completely gutted by then.
