‘Bharat Taxi’ Service to Launch in Ranchi Soon

Ranchi: The cooperative model-driven cab aggregator service, ‘Bharat Taxi,’ is set to debut in Ranchi soon. The Central Government plans to expand the platform’s footprint to 500 cities across the country over the next two years.

Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced the expansion on Monday in the national capital during an event celebrating the fifth foundation day of the Ministry of Cooperation.

Current Operations and Immediate Rollout Plans

The ‘Bharat Taxi’ service currently operates across major hubs including Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Kanpur.

According to the expansion roadmap, the service will roll out in the following cities within the next few months:

  • East & Northeast: Ranchi, Patna, Kolkata, and Guwahati
  • Central & West: Bhopal, Indore, and Nagpur

Government to Set Up New Cooperative Life Insurance Company

Following the operational framework of ‘Bharat Taxi,’ the government will also establish a new cooperative life insurance company. The move aims to accelerate the growth of cooperative institutions within India’s highly competitive insurance landscape.

  • The Cooperative Network: India currently boasts roughly 8.5 lakh cooperative institutions, engaging a massive network of over 30 crore members.
  • The Insurance Market: The upcoming cooperative player will join India’s formal insurance sector, which currently features 26 active life insurance companies.
