Jamshedpur, April 25: In a quick joint operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended two suspected drug traffickers and recovered 15 kilograms of ganja from the railway premises late last night.
Acting on specific inputs, the team intercepted the duo during a coordinated raid and seized the contraband, valued at several lakhs in the illegal market. The crackdown was part of intensified efforts to curb the movement of narcotics through railway routes.
The accused, identified as Upendra Kumar (38) and Vinod Sao (55), hail from Rajouli in Bihar’s Nawada district. Initial interrogation suggests possible links to a wider trafficking network, though officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
The operation was conducted under the RPF’s “Operation Narcos” campaign.
Both individuals have been handed over to the Tatanagar Railway Police for further legal action, with authorities vowing to continue such crackdowns to ensure safer rail corridors.
