Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan district police here on Saturday arrested two persons in connection with a case of extortion lodged by Adityapur police. They also confiscated a country-made singleshot, two bullets and two pellets from the possession of the duo.
The SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan Chandan Sinha said a police team set up to crack down on the accused persons, nabbed them from Lanka Tola, Aam Bagan on the basis of a tip-off. One of the accused, Rohan Thakur was caught from a house in Lanka Tola. Later, on his information, the other accused, identified as Sintu Kumar Singh, was arrested from Bagbera Traffic Colony. Cops also confiscated a motorcycle belonging to Roshan Kumar Jha, another accused not named in the FIR, from Bagbera.
According to the SP, Rohan Thakur and his associates, Roshan Kumar Jha and Ritesh Kumar Jha, had carried out firing on builder Ranjeet Narayan Mishra of Road Number 9 at Adityapur on 16th August last with the intention to extort money from him. The accused persons had also carried out firing at Kunal Medical situated at Road Number 4, Adityapur, in a bid to extort its proprietor, said the SP.
Police identified Thakur and his associates on the basis of CCTV footage. On police pressure, Roshan and Ritesh had surrendered in the court on 31st August last, said the SP.
