Jamshedpur, Feb 15: There will be block closure at Tata Motors (TM) plant in Jamshedpur on Saturday, February 17. Since the following day will be Sunday, a general holiday, the plant will resume work on Monday, February 19. This marks the second consecutive week of a two-day block closure, with a similar shutdown implemented on February 10.
The closure is attributed to a lack of work orders within the plant, resulting in a 50 percent reduction in employee salaries for the duration of the closure. This repeated closure has led to financial losses for the affected employees.
It may be mentioned that under an agreement reached on July 31, 2017, and subsequently extended, such block closures are permitted by company management.
