Jamshedpur, November 22: The 17th edition of the annual short film festival Shorts-2024 will be held at the Centre for Excellence (CFE), Jamshedpur, on November 23 and 24, starting at 5 PM each day.
The festival will showcase 20 short films ranging from 2 to 27 minutes, including 11 in Hindi, 5 in Bengali, 3 in English, and 1 silent film. Filmmakers from Jamshedpur, Ghatshila, Ranchi, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata have contributed to this selection. These films give amateur filmmakers an opportunity to present their celluloid creations on the same platform as their professional counterparts.
At a press conference on Friday, Tathagata Bhattacharjee, Film Director and COO of Take 5 Communications, Kolkata, along with theatre and film artiste Goutam Shankar Das and actor Siddharth Sen who is also the anchor of ‘SHORTS’, highlighted the festival’s mission to support emerging filmmakers from Jharkhand.
The festival, organized by the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE), Jamshedpur, and Take 5 Communications, Kolkata, has been a significant platform for budding filmmakers over its 16-year history. Ten films will be screened each day, and the directors of the selected films will be present at the event.
Supported by Tata Steel, SHORTS has become one of the longest-running festivals in the region and is expected to receive an enthusiastic response this year as well.
Among the 20 films to be screened, four are from Mumbai, one from Delhi, nine from Kolkata, four from Jamshedpur and one each from Ranchi and Ghatshila.
