Jamshedpur, July 28: Leaders of various trade unions led by Rakeshwar Pandey (INTUC) met the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar on Thursday demanding restrictions of arbitrary behavior of Govindpur situated Steel Strip Wheels Company management.
The union leaders said that company management is exploiting the workers and if district administration doesn’t step in and resolve the matter at the earliest, the condition will go out of control.
Speaking on the occasion Pandey said when workers of the company tried to form a union their leader Rajeev Pandey was sent to jail and removed 11 other workers from work. The matter reached the Deputy Labour Commissioner’s (DLC) office, but no one from the company management turned up for the meeting called by DLC.
Pandey further informed that the matter was taken before the administration about the company’s behavior but no action has been taken till date.
On the other hand, company management is allegedly trying new things to curb the demands of the workers. The administration should take steps in this direction otherwise union leaders will be forced to gate meeting before the company and make further strategies, he said.
Apart from INTUC, representatives from leaders from ATK, CITU, and BMS were present during the meeting with the DC.
