TSAF’s Anisha and Aman to represent India at Asian Climbing Championship

Jamshedpur: Aman Verma (Class 9, Kerela Public School) and Anisha Verma (Class 7, RMS School),  two cadets of the TSAFs Sport Climbing Training Centre have been selected by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation to represent India in Asian Combined Youth Championships in Chongqing, China from November 14 – 17 2019.  IFSC in association with the Chinese Mountaineering Association is hosting the Championship.

They have been selected based on their performance in national events.  Currently, both are at number one position in national rankings in the Jr. boys and Jr.  girl�s category.  Anisha is currently holding the national record in speed climbing in the girl�s category.  Aman has so far won 10 medals (gold, silver, bronze) in National Competitions held in various cities. Similarly, Anisha has won 12 medals (gold, silver, bronze) in such Competitions.

Earlier both represented India in the World Youth Championships held at Arco Italy from August 22 – 31, 2019.   Aman secured 12th position in combined ranking while Anisha  got the 14th position. Aman also became the first cadet from India to qualify for semifinals in lead event at Arco.

Babulal Rawat, Instructor, TSAF is going as the National Coach of the event.  All three have left for China on November 12, 2019. They will return to Jamshedpur on November 19, 2019.

As regards the Competition Format, the Competition will be held in all 3 disciplines � Lead Climbing, Bouldering and Speed Climbing. Winners will be decided based on performance in all 3 disciplines with maximum points.
