TSAF team completes Everest Base camp trek

Jamshedpur, April 29: A team of eight participants from the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) successfully completed the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek between April 11 and April 26, 2026. The expedition was led by Senior Instructor Rathu Mahatoo. The group, comprising one woman and seven men aged between 35 and 63 years, achieved a significant milestone by reaching the Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 17,598 feet.

The participants included Donald Menezes, Neeraj Nidre, Dr Vijay Nidre, Dr Kumar Rahul, Avantika Singh, Abhay Kumar Singh, Mukesh Kathai, and Shashikant Gupta. The trek followed the scenic route along the Dudh Koshi river to Namche Bazaar and further through Tengboche, giving participants an opportunity to experience the unique Sherpa culture.

Despite facing extreme weather conditions, including temperatures dropping to –25°C, strong winds, snowfall, and long hours of trekking at high altitude, all members displayed remarkable determination and endurance to complete the journey successfully. The expedition tested both physical strength and mental resilience.

Participants described the trek as a life-changing experience. Abhay Kumar Singh said the journey pushed his limits and brought a deep sense of achievement and gratitude. Avantika Singh described it as more than just a trek, calling it an inner journey that built resilience and clarity while standing at Everest Base Camp filled her with pride.
