Jamshedpur, July 14: The weeklong Bhagwat Katha jointly organized by the Jharkhand Prantiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan (JPMMS) and Marwari Mahila Manch (MMM) Jamshedpur in Tulsi Bhawan at Bistupur concluded on Friday, July 14, with the performance of Havan. Prasad (consecrated food) was distributed among the devotees present.
The final day of the Bhagwat Katha included the character of Sudama and Lord Krishna’s divine journey to his heavenly abode. Katha Vachak (narrator) Sitaram Shastri explaining the episode from his Vyaspeeth (podium), observed, “Devotion to the Lord is the sole foundation for liberation from all sins in the Kali Yuga. With the Lord’s name in the heart, He leads devotees to salvation. The name of God holds immense power. Nothing in the world is useless; one simply needs to possess the wisdom of utility. The fire in the kitchen keeps the home running smoothly. However, when the fire extends beyond the kitchen into the drawing room or bedroom, it sets the house on fire.” While describing the character of Sudama, the narrator urged everyone to be like Lord Krishna and Sudama—true friends who understood each-other’s problems and extended help without being asked. “However, nowadays, friendship based on self-interest prevails. As long as self-interest is unfulfilled, friendship remains intact. But once self-interest is fulfilled, friendship ceases to exist,” Shastri Ji said and further explained, “In this world, whatever wealth we possess, is acquired through someone else’s effort. Therefore, we should always be grateful to the Supreme Giver, the Almighty, rather than feeling proud of our possessions. The Lord’s Leelas (divine plays) are like a mirror that reflects our true nature.” While narrating the episode on Dattatreya, Shastri Ji said, “The world is filled with virtues and faults. Those who go by their faults are wicked, while those who embrace virtues are righteous.”
