Tribal warns of closing Ranchi’s Pithoria Chowk if culprits not nabbed

Ranchi, April 2: The dispute over a frill during the Sarhul procession in Heda Balu, located in Pithoria police station area of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, has taken a serious turn.

The Central Sarna Committee demonstrated on Wednesday demanding the immediate arrest of the accused in this dispute. The committee’s president Ajay Tirkey demanded the administration to arrest the accused within 24 hours. He also warned that if the accused are not arrested within 24 hours, Pithoria Chowk will be closed.

It is worth noting that during the Sarhul procession in Heda Balu of Pithoria police station area, a frill broke off from the procession’s flag. The people who put up the frill got enraged and attacked the people involved in the Sarhul procession. After that, there was a fierce fight between the two sides.

However, some villagers intervened and handled the situation and drove away the fighting men and women from there.

The situation in the area became tense after the incident. Police teams are continuously camping in the area. Many people including Pahan were injured in this incident. The police and administration are trying their best to control the situation, but it is being told that there is still anger among the local people.

Central Sarna Committee President Ajay Tirkey said, “If the accused are not arrested within 24 hours, we will close Pithoria Chowk and the protest will continue.”

Describing this incident as damaging the social fabric, he said that the government and administration should pay attention to this serious issue.
