Ranchi, Nov 16: The second phase of Jharkhand’s Assembly elections is set to take place on November 20, and five constituencies are drawing significant attention. Dhanwar, Dumri, Gomia, Bermo, and Silli are expected to witness a triangular contest, with rising political figures such as JMM’s Jairam Mahato gearing up for a critical electoral challenge.

Dhanwar: In Dhanwar, the battle is expected to be fierce. BJP’s state president Babulal Marandi is contesting from this seat, while JMM has fielded Nizamuddin Ansari. The CPI-ML has nominated Raj Kumar Yadav. Adding to the complexity of the race, BJP’s close ally Niranjan Rai is contesting as an independent candidate, making it a tough challenge for Babulal Marandi. This seat has turned a factor of key contest.

This election also marks a crucial test for Jharkhand’s emerging leader Jairam Mahato, whose performance in this election will be closely scrutinized. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mahato surprised many by securing nearly 3.5 lakh votes from the Giridih parliamentary constituency, showing his rising political influence. Similarly, Devendra Nath Mahato, JLKM’s candidate for the Ranchi seat, garnered nearly 1.5 lakh votes, signaling his growing appeal.

Dumri: The Dumri seat is also set for a three-way battle. Cabinet Minister Baby Devi is contesting as a JMM candidate, while the AJSU has reposed faith in Yashoda Devi. JLKM’s Jairam Mahato himself is contesting from Dumri, making it a highly interesting and competitive race.

Gomia: Gomia is another seat where a triangular contest is likely. JLKM’s Amresh Mahato could play a crucial role in swinging the vote box in this region. The main competitors here are JMM’s Yogendra Prasad and AJSU’s Lambodar Mahato, but Amresh Mahato’s influence in the area could change the dynamics.

Bermo: The Bermo seat is expected to see an intense contest. Congress has re-nominated Jaymangal Singh, while BJP has fielded five-time MP Ravindra Pandey. JLKM’s Jairam Mahato is also contesting from this seat. The battle in Bermo is predicted to be tough, with all three candidates being strong contenders, making it a potential triangular clash.

Silli: Silli also looks set for a triangular contest. AJSU chief Sudesh Mahato is vying for this seat, while JMM has once again placed its trust in Amit Mahato. JLKM has fielded Devendra Nath Mahato, who had previously surprised many by securing over 1.5 lakh votes in the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat. This seat is expected to be closely contested, with the final result being uncertain.

The second phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections is shaping up to be a crucial test of political dynamics in the state, and all eyes will be on these five constituencies as the election unfolds.
