Jamshedpur: Due to yard remodelling at Santragachi station in the Kharagpur Division, a series of Non-Interlocking (NI) works will take place, leading to significant train service disruptions. The pre-NI work will span 13 days from April 30, 2025, to May 12, 2025, followed by five days of additional pre-NI work from May 13, 2025, to May 17, 2025. This will culminate in a seven-hour complete traffic block on May 18, 2025, affecting train operations in the Howrah-Kharagpur (HWH-KGP) section.
As a result, several Mail/Express trains will be canceled on specific dates. Some of the notable cancellations include the 22804 SBP-SHM Express on May 2, 2025 and its return journey, 22803 SHM-SBP Express, on May 3, 2025. Similarly, the 18049 SHM-BMPR Express and 18050 BMPR-SHM Express will be canceled on May 3-4 and again on May 17-18, 2025. Other affected trains include the 18051/18052 BMPR-ROU-BMPR Express (May 4 and 18), 12888 PURI-SHM Weekly Express (May 4) and 12887 SHM-PURI Weekly Express (May 5). The 12883/12884 SRC-PRR-HWH Rupashi Bangla Express will face cancellations on May 5, 17 and 18.
Additionally, several special and long-distance trains will not operate during this period. These include the 08508 VSKP-SHM TOD Special (May 6) and 08507 SHM-VSKP TOD Special (May 7), along with the 20832 SBP-SHM Mahima Gosain Express (May 6) and its return 20831 SHM-SBP Mahima Gosain Express (May 7). The PURI-HWH Shatabdi Express (12277/12278) will be canceled on May 11. Other weekly services like 20971 UDZ-SHM and 20972 SHM-UDZ will not operate on May 10 and 11, respectively.
Further disruptions include cancellations of trains such as 12949 PBR-SRC Kavi Guru Express (May 9) and 12950 SRC-PBR Kavi Guru Express (May 11), as well as 18033/18034 HWH-GTS-HWH MEMU (May 11). The 22897 HWH-DGHA Kandari Express and 12858 DGHA-HWH Tamralipta Express will be affected on May 11. Other impacted services include 06081 KCVL-SHM TOD Express (May 9) and 06082 SHM-KCVL TOD Express (May 12). Several Howrah-bound express trains such as 18011/18012 HWH-CKP (May 10, 17) and 18013/18014 HWH-BKSC (May 10, 17) will also be canceled. The 18615/18616 HWH-HTE Kriya Yoga Express and 12837/12838 HWH-PURI Express will not operate on May 11 and 17.
Several trains will also be rescheduled due to the work. The 12885 SHM-BJE Aranyak Express will depart one hour late on May 3 and 7, while the 22214 PNBE-SHM Duronto Express will be delayed by three hours on May 6 and 17. Other notable reschedulings include the 12101 LTT-SHM Express (delayed by four hours on May 16), 12129 PUNE-HWH Express (four-hour delay on May 16) and 12809 CSMT-HWH Mail (2.5-hour delay on May 16). Similarly, the 12949 PBR-SRC Kavi Guru Express will run two hours late on May 16. Local services such as 38807 HWH-MDN EMU will be delayed by 30 minutes on May 11 and 17.
A total of 15 express trains and several suburban trains will also face short termination or short origination. EMU and local train services will also be affected, with some services canceled altogether. These disruptions are expected to impact passengers traveling in the Howrah-Kharagpur section during this period. Passengers are advised to check official railway notifications for alternative arrangements and updated schedules.
