Cooks to receive Rs 3,000 honourarium, approved in budget: Jharkhand Minister

Ranchi: Cooks working in the state will now receive a monthly honourarium of Rs 3,000, following approval in the third supplementary budget. Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu announced this decision in the Jharkhand Assembly on Thursday.

Highlighting the increase, Sudivya Sonu stated, “Earlier, cooks received Rs 2,000 as honourarium. The state government has now decided to raise it to Rs 3,000 to provide better financial support.” He explained that out of the previous Rs 2,000 honourarium, the Central government contributed Rs 600, while the state government provided Rs 1,400. With this increase, the Hemant Soren-led state government will now bear the additional burden to support the beneficiaries.

This decision is expected to benefit thousands of cooks across Jharkhand, providing them with improved financial stability. The move has been widely welcomed, as it acknowledges the hard work and dedication of these workers in ensuring the proper implementation of mid-day meal programs in schools.
