Year-long initiative begins with seminar at Karim City College
Jamshedpur, July 11: A year-long road safety campaign, Surakshit Yatayat Abhiyanam (Safe Road Campaign), was launched launched by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, in association with the Rotaract Club of Jamshedpur Sevarthah and the Rotaract Club of Karim City, with a road safety seminar at Karim City College on Saturday.
The initiative aims to spread awareness about safe road practices and encourage responsible behaviour among road users.

The seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Neeraj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), while Karim City College Principal Dr Mohammad Riaz attended as the Guest of Honour. The campaign was formally launched with the release of a quarterly programme booklet.

In his address, DSP Neeraj Kumar spoke about the importance of following traffic rules and explained the challenges of traffic management. He urged students and citizens to become responsible road users and contribute to safer roads.

A street play on traffic awareness was staged to highlight the importance of road safety. Ramanuj Ojha, Senior Manager (Safety & Sustainability), Tata Motors, delivered a session on road safety measures. Doctors from Tata Main Hospital—Dr Shishir Kumar, Dr Bhanu Swain and Dr Sharad—demonstrated first aid techniques to be followed during the critical Golden Hour after road accidents.

Students, volunteers, and members of the public participated in the seminar and received participation certificates. Similar awareness programmes will be organised across the city throughout the year in collaboration with the traffic police and local administration.
