Jamshedpur: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recovered the chopper used in the Himanshu Singh murder case of Bistupur. The prime accused of the DD Bar murder case, Rahul Dubey, surrendered nearly two weeks after the attack.
The weapon was recovered based on Dubey’s disclosure during interrogation, police said. It has been sent for forensic examination to scientifically establish its link to the crime.
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on June 27, when a group of assailants allegedly attacked Singh and his friend with sharp-edged weapons outside the bar, resulting in one death and serious injuries. Owing to the gravity of the crime, the Senior Superintendent of Police constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the case.
According to police, the SIT conducted an intensive investigation using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, human intelligence, and other forensic evidence. During the course of the investigation, 13 named and other accused persons had already been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Raids were continuing to trace the remaining absconding suspects.
Dubey was apprehended from the Bistupur police station area. During interrogation, he allegedly led investigators to the recovery of the chopper (sharp-edged weapon) used in the crime.
Dubey (30) has a criminal history and had previously been jailed in connection with a complaint registered at the Kadma police station in 2025, besides an attempt to murder and an Arms Act case in 2021.
