Jamshedpur, Oct30: A three day seminar on ‘Digital Jharkhand 2015 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Jharkhand and Computer Society of India (CSI), Jamshedpur Chapter was inaugurated today at Gopal Maidan, Jamshedpur. Mr Anand Sen, President, TQM & Steel Business, Tata Steel graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Sen said ‘I think that the digital explosion that is happening today puts a unique proposition in front of state of Jharkhand. It allows us to leapfrog and take a step into the rural areas of Jharkhand and digitization drive should reach every village of the state.
I would urge the CSI and CII to build a proposition to discuss with the Government where they can propose Education, Infrastucture, Healthcare etc.
These are areas where we need to think on how to extend our learning’.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Mr Tarun Daga, Chairman, CII Jharkhand and MD of Tinplate Co. said, IT roadmap is ready for Jharkhand and soon it will be forwarded to the state IT Department secretary Sunil Barnwal later to the Chief Minister.
“ Raghubar Das led state government has been proactive since the time it took over and has done good work in the last 10 months. Single Window clearance was launched and World Bank has ranked Jharkhand 3rd in ease of doing business which shows the government is capable of taking huge steps. We hope the government will continue the same work in the future which would help the state to prosper,” added Daga.
Talking about the seminar, Tinplate MD said, CII is bringing all the agencies in a single platform which would bring out the problems as to why Jharkhand is still lagging behind in IT and what are the solutions for the problems.
Jaspal Singh, Secretary, Computer Society of India (Jamshedpur Chapter) said, earlier IOT (Internet of Things) but now we have IOE (Internet of Everything) and everybody is connected today and we want things to happen faster today were living is being considered smart.
On the lines of PM Modi’s Digital India, state government is very much focused on Digital Jharkhand; it can be possible only when digitalization is made to reach grass root level. Awareness is one thing which can help digitalization reach every village of the state, Singh added.
He further informed that for the first time students will be given opportunity to showcase their ideas in business environment. For class 5- 8 students Billboard will be there were top three students will be allowed to present their ideas as to how you imagine Jamshedpur in 2025 out of the 24 entries received.
Slideshow will be shown by top 3 students of class 9-12 students out of 30 entries received. On Saturday, October 31 Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, and State Secretary Department of IT & E Commerce will inaugurate the Exhibition which will be followed by seminar on “Digital Jharkhand” wherein companies like Tata Communications, HP, IBM, Skylink Communications, HCL Commet, Cisco, Tata Technologies, Tata Business Support Services Ltd, Vodafone, Dassault System, Schinder, SAP, Ricoh India, Tata Motors and other will participate.
Earlier the programme started with a lamp lightning ceremony by Mr Sen followed by opening remarks by Mr Tarun Daga, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, The Tinplate Co of India Limited. Mr. V.P. Srivastava, Chief, IT – Architechture, Tata Steel, Ms. Neerja Mishra Programme Manager, Enterprise Solutions, Tata Technologies Limited and Mr. Avijit Roy, General Manager, Engineering Research Centre, Tata Motors spoke on the topic 50 years of completion of IT in Jamshedpur.
This was followed by speeches by Mr CV Singh, Mr K Janardhan and Mr Dushyant Lall, all Ex Chairmen, CSI. The address by the Chief Guest of the function was followed by a lecture on the topic ‘Next Wave OF Technologies – Internet of Things’ by Mr Shailesh Sapale. The progarmme ended with a cultural evening at Beldih Club, Jamshedpur
Digital Jharkhand will show case the art and science of the possible, making it accessible to the investors, industrialists and government bodies.
The seminar and the exhibition will be attended by the State government policy makers, Chief Executives, of all the major industries in the state. All the major players of the digital technology space will showcase their digital innovations in this three day long programme.
It will offer participants to engage with thought leaders from government and industry to help re-imagine the Jharkhand of the future and would also provide a platform to showcase the innovation and the future plans to make a significant change in the society with the help of IT in Jharkhand
