Jamshedpur, Oct 9: The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients has improved from 83.16 per cent to 84.17 this week at� city-based Tata Main Hospital (TMH).
During a telephonic press meet, Dr Rajan Choudhry, advisor,TMH and former general manager, medical services, Tata Steel, said that the city is witnessing signs of improvement as far as spread of the corona virus is concerned. The hospital has treated 3682 patients so far. The admissions at the hospital reduced from 169 last week to 150 this week. Discharges have also reduced from 179 to 162. Number of deaths has also reduced from 21 last week to 10 this week. A total of 66 patients above 80 years have recovered from the virus.
The positive sign of improvement is also reflected from the fact that the positivity rate in RT-PCR tests ( 32127) has reduced from to 30 per cent to 6.30 per cent and Antigen Test ( 25529) has come down from 5.19 per cent to 3.80.
Answering queries, Dr Rajan Choudhry, said that during the upcoming Durga Puja it is important for the people to avoid crowding. �We should celebrate the festival with family and friends but we must avoid crowding. We must adhere to social distancing and wear masks,� he noted.
He also went on to inform that TMH has set up a post Covid19 care clinic at its OPD starting from Wednesday. Sensing the need of those patients who recovered from coronavirus, the hospital has started the clinic. In just two days 19 patients consulted the clinic.
The advisor informed that several patients who have recovered from COVID-19 are showing signs of lethargy, joint pains, difficulty in breathing, itching and other skin related diseases. The clinic will provide consultancy to such patients who want further treatment.
Avoid crowding during festive season: Dr Choudhry
During a telephonic press meet, the Dr Rajan Choudhry former general manager, medical services, Tata Steel, said that the spurt in coronavirus cases has reduced and it is important for the general public to stay away from crowds during the festivals. �We have witnessed a rise in cases during August and September. The intensity of the virus has reduced. In order to ensure safety during the coming months it is really very important for people to stay away from the crowd. They should avoid gathering in rituals and celebrate the festival with their family members,� he noted.
