Jamshedpur: The Timken Company today awarded scholarships to 38 children of Timken associates at 26 locations around the world. Six children from India were honored scholarships, with a combined value of $55,000 funded by The Timken Company Charitable and Educational Fund Inc.
Selected for $30,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $120,000 was Hariharan Rangarajan, the son of Ramakrishnan Rangarajan, training and environmental health and safety principal at the Timken facility in Chennai. Hariharan who is a senior at Mahindra World School in Chengalpet, plans to attend the University of Akron in Ohio, USA to study mechanical engineering.
The scholarship program accepts applications from the children of Timken employees and retirees. Since its founding in 1958, the program has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships.
The scholarships reflect the company�s commitment toward emphasizing and advancing higher learning opportunities for deserving recipients, who are selected primarily based on merit, as well as for their community leadership, activities and goals.
