Jamshedpur, April 21: Tata Steel today inaugurated the newly built Tiger and Lion Enclosures at Tata Steel Zoological Park.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Chanakya Chaudhary, President of Tata Steel Zoological Society, who dedicated the new home for the lions at the zoo.

On this occasion, Chaudhary said, the new enclosures represent Tata Steel Zoo’s commitment to providing the best possible habitats for our animals and enhancing the visitor experience.

Both the enclosures, built by Tata Steel UISL, feature a glass view and open-type enclosures with a main animal display area.
These enclosures are among the most advanced habitats for lions and tigers in the region.

Currently, the zoo houses two tigresses, Saloni and Sunaina.

Recently, one male and one female tiger, Rudra and Meghna, were brought from Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park, Nagpur, Maharashtra, in exchange for a pair of African grey parrots.

Tata Zoo is the only zoo in India with a pure breed of African lions. Currently, the zoo houses three lions (two males and one female).
