Tiger spotted in Dalma Forest Jamshedpur, villagers advised to remain cautious

Jamshedpur: The presence of a tiger has been confirmed in the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, sparking concern among residents of the forest and nearby areas. Authorities have issued alerts to the villagers, advising them to avoid venturing out at night and to refrain from going out alone during the day to ensure their safety.

Dalma forest, home to 81 villages with thousands of residents, is under close surveillance by the forest department. Speaking about the precautionary measures, Jharkhand’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wildlife, Shashikar Samanta, stated, “Our priority is the safety of both the villagers and the tiger. We are taking all necessary steps to monitor the tiger’s movement and minimize any potential threat to human life and property.”

Samanta, along with RCCF Smita Pankaj, DFO Saba Alam Ansari, and local rangers, inspected the forest to gather details about the tiger’s presence. They observed its footprints and directed the team to capture pug impressions for further analysis. Additionally, samples of the tiger’s excreta have been collected for identification purposes.
To monitor the tiger’s movement, the forest department has installed trap cameras in strategic locations within the forest. “These cameras will help us capture the tiger’s images and track its behaviour,” explained DFO Saba Alam Ansari.

Forest officials have been instructed to be vigilant and cautious while monitoring the tiger’s activities. Authorities have assured the public that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of tourists visiting Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. Local residents are urged to cooperate with the forest department and report any sightings immediately.
