Three women mowed down by train in Lakhisarai

Patna, Jan 9: Three women heading to participate in s death-related ritual were killed as a train ran over them in Lakhisarai district of Bihar on Thursday.

The incident came close on the heels of the death of three minor boys by a speeding train at Bettiah in West Champaran district of Bihar recently. On January 2, three minors engrossed in playing PUBG, a popular online game, were killed after being run over by a speeding train at railway gate number 188 C near Mansa Tola which falls under Mufassil police station area of the district.

According to the official sources, four sisters who alighted from the passenger train were crossing the railway track when they were knocked down by Humsafar Express at Shaheed Jitendra Halt on Kiul-Jhajha railway section of Lakhisarai on Thursday.

“The bodies were thrown 15 to 20 feet away,” said an official who asked not to be identified.

Soon after the incident, railway officials and police team reached the spot. The bodies have been sent to the hospital for postmortem. Police have started investigating the cause of the accident. At the same time, Railways has appealed to the passengers to be cautious while crossing the tracks.

Deceased women have been identified as Sansar Devi (42 ), Champa Devi (55) and Radha Devi (60). Their bodies have been sent for postmortem, police said.
