Tata Motors ‘Belgian Shepherd’ adjudged most obedient dog at Jamshepur Show

Jamshedpur Dog Show displays best canine talent

Jamshedpur, Jan 9: The 34th & 35th FCI Dog Show, organized under the auspices of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and The Kennel Club of India, alongside the 77th & 78th Championship Dog Show hosted by the Jamshedpur Kennel Club, began on January 9, 2025.

 

Held at the Archery Ground of the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex, the event is a grand celebration of canine excellence, pedigree, and sportsmanship, featuring participants from India and abroad.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Ananya Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, along with the presence of Jamshedpur Kennel Club Chairman Ruchi Narendran and numerous dog enthusiasts. A total of 470 dogs have registered for the championship, making it a diverse and high-standard competition.

Deputy Commissioner Mittal praised the event, emphasizing its role in fostering sensitivity and appreciation for different species. He encouraged city residents to attend the show.

Chairman Ruchi Narendran highlighted the international standards of the competition, with judges from across the globe evaluating the dogs.

She noted that 20 of India’s best dogs are competing alongside several foreign breeds, including some participating for the first time in Jamshedpur. Special measures have been implemented to manage waste generated during the event, ensuring cleanliness and convenience.

Day 1 of the show featured the much-respected Obedience Competition, which included 49 participants undergoing tests across various classes. In the C-6 Open Class, the winner was Steal Thpaws Kent, a male Belgian Shepherd owned by Tata Motors Ltd. The second prize was bagged by Milo, another male Belgian Shepherd owned by Tata Steel Head Security, Jamshedpur. Lucy, a female Belgian Shepherd also owned by Tata Steel Head Security, and Lindsay, a female Belgian Shepherd owned by Tata Motors, jointly secured third place.

In the C-7 Companion Dog Class, Bosco, a male German Shepherd Double Coat owned by Priyanka Shee Bose, won the first prize. Jully, a female Rottweiler owned by Moushimi Ghazal, secured second place, while Dollar, a male Belgian Shepherd owned by Jay Biswas, took third spot.

The competition features several rare and unique breeds, including Keeshond, Toy Spaniel Papillon, Samoyed, Miniature Schnauzer, English Setter, Miniature Pinscher, Dogue de Bordeaux, Dogo Argentino, and American Staffordshire. Returning breeds from last year include Schipperke, Fox Terrier, Jack Russell Terrier, English Pointer, and Cane Corso.

Specialty shows for Labrador, Beagle, Doberman, and Siberian Husky breeds are scheduled for January 10, along with additional obedience tests for classes 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The event has drawn significant attention from dog lovers and promises to be a landmark celebration of canine talent and camaraderie, setting high standards for future events.
