Three killed in accident on Odisha-Jharkhand border

Jamshedpur, Mar 16: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three family members on Saturday morning at around 7 AM near the Odisha-Jharkhand border. The incident occurred at Durita Chowk on NH-20 under the jurisdiction of Champua police station in Odisha.

According to reports, Evan Pradhan, a resident of Sannai village, was returning home with his wife and son after visiting his daughter’s in-laws in Razia when their bike was struck by a speeding truck. The impact dragged the bike for nearly 50 feet, killing Evan Pradhan on the spot. His wife, Mathamahani and their son, who sustained critical injuries, succumbed to their wounds during treatment.

Following the accident, enraged locals staged a protest at Durita Chowk, blocking the road by burning tyres. Police from Champua station arrived at the scene, pacified the crowd and restored traffic. Meanwhile, the truck driver fled the scene and efforts are underway to track him down.
