Jamshedpur: A joyous Holi celebration turned into tragedy for a Sonari-based couple when a tree fell on them near Golmuri police station on Sunday evening.
The couple had visited their relatives in Namda Basti and were returning home around 5:30 PM when a large branch of an old Peepal tree suddenly broke off and fell on them. Both were trapped under the heavy branch, causing panic among bystanders.
Locals rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the wife immediately, but the husband remained trapped for a long time before being pulled out. Golmuri police acted swiftly and transported both victims to Tata Main Hospital (TMH). However, the husband succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
