Three-Day Janmashtami Festival in Jamshedpur Surya Mandir from August 14

Jamshedpur, Aug 10:  Preparations are in full swing for the grand celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami in Jamshedpur. The Surya Mandir Committee, Sidgora, will organize a three-day festival from August 14 to 16 at Surya Dham, with former Chief Minister and Chief Patron of the temple committee, Raghubar Das, as the chief guest. The celebrations will feature a Bal Radha-Krishna decoration competition and a group dance competition, with winners receiving attractive cash prizes.

In a press conference Surya Mandir Committee President Bhupendra Singh, Co-Treasurer Amarjit Singh Raja, Media In-charge Prem Jha, and Co-Media In-charge Pramod Mishra shared details of the event. Bhupendra Singh said that, like every year, the festival would be celebrated with grandeur. On Janmashtami, special puja, havan, and religious rituals will be held at the temple, which will be adorned with colorful lights and flowers. The midnight celebration of Bal Gopal’s birth will include bhajans and kirtans.

The Bal Radha-Krishna decoration competition auditions will be held at Birsa Munda Town Hall on August 14 at 5 pm, followed by group dance auditions on August 15. The finals for both competitions will take place on August 16 at 5 pm. The top three winners in the Bal Radha-Krishna competition will receive ₹5,000, ₹3,000, and ₹2,000 respectively, while the group dance competition winners will get ₹15,000, ₹11,000, and ₹7,000. Incentives will also be given to other finalists. The age limit for the Bal Radha-Krishna competition is 10 years.

Forms for both competitions are available at the temple premises from August 10, between 10 am–1 pm and 5 pm–8 pm, with the last date for submission being August 14 at 1 pm. Interested participants may contact the temple office or coordinators on the provided phone numbers.

For smooth conduct of the event, Kamlesh Singh has been appointed as program coordinator, and Amarjit Singh Raja as program treasurer. Separate in-charges have been designated for each competition to ensure the success of the three-day cultural and devotional celebrations.
