Three arrested in Jamshedpur for displaying illegal arms on social media

Jamshedpur, July 9:  In a swift operation, Olidih Police arrested three individuals on July 8 for displaying illegal firearms on social media to spread fear and demand extortion. Acting on a tip-off, police launched a raid and successfully recovered two country-made pistols and a mobile phone used in the crime.

According to officials, the accused had uploaded photos of themselves brandishing weapons on social media platforms, aiming to instil fear among local residents in the Olidih OP area. A special raiding team, led by the Olidih OP In-charge, was formed to investigate the matter. The police team, supported by sub-inspectors Vivek Pal and Ravindra Pandey, ASI Nagwant Paswan, Tiger Mobile-05 and armed forces from the OP, conducted the operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ritesh Singh (son of Rakesh Singh, resident of Laxman Nagar), Ashok Gupta (son of Shankar Gupta, resident of Shanti Nagar) and Raj Kumar Mukhiya alias Raj Bachcha (son of Bishu Mukhiya).

During the raid, police seized one black and silver iron country-made pistol, another silver country-made pistol and a Samsung touchscreen mobile phone. Police said further investigation is underway to trace possible links with other criminal activities.
