Gamharia, July 11: Seraikela-Kharsawa district police here on Monday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the killing of a 25 year-old youth whose body was found near Ganjia Barrage in Nawaharh under Gamharia police station area three months ago.
Those arrested were identified as Rahul Kumar, Vivek Rajak and Udesh Rai, cops said.
Police said they had confiscated a motorcycle, a black T-shirt, towel and knife used in the murder.
According to SP Anand Prakash, “The deceased, Nitish, was killed due to his affair with a 20 year-old girl. He used to meet her in Haldipokhar. On 12th April last, the girl’s mother saw her with her Nitish and informed her husband Udesh Rai and son Rahul about it. Later, the girl’s father and son somehow found out Nitish and warned him against meeting her again. Rahul later took Nitish to his farmhouse in Hesal on a bike and after sometime took him towards Ganjia Barrage. Near the dam, Rahul and his friend Vivek gagged Nitish with a towel and killed him through suffocation. Nitish fell unconscious. Rahul and Vivek thereafter slit his throat and wrists with a knife and threw him into the water. They also threw the knife into the water before fleeing the scene. During interrogation, they have confessed their involvement in the crime.”
