Jamshedpur, July 11: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has requested major players in the automobile industry to come to Kolhan and set up their productions units here with the view to boost the local industrial development prospects.

SCCI president Vijay Anand Moonka and honorary general secretary Manav Kedia have sent letters to as many as 23 prominent automobile companies manufacturing four-wheelers, three-wheelers and two-wheelers to set up their manufacturing plants in and around Jamshedpur.

“Jamshedpur being the industrial capital of Jharkhand, there are adequate facilities here for the manufacturing of vehicles. Establishing their manufacturing units would be beneficial for the companies. There are over 1500 big, small and medium level industrial units in Kolhan’ industrial area which is known as a major industrial area of Asia,” the Chamber members said in the letter.

The SCCI functionaries said several big companies were running their plants in Jamshedpur for the last many decades. “The local industrial units have been supplying necessary raw materials and goods to these companies while working as their anciallaries. There are adequate transportation means for their manufactured products,” they said.

Moonka said Kolhan was a densely populated area which could provide a big market to the automobile companies. “We are sure the state government would also be ready to give exemptions to the companies in following certain rules. This would greatly enhance the state revenue as there are a high number of labourers available here. Chamber would also help the automobile companies,” he said.
