Chaibasa, Dec 15: The murder of four persons including two children of a family in Sonapi village under Chhotanagara police station in West Singhbhum on the night of Sunday, December 8 was solved by the police when they arrested all the three accused in the crime.
The three accused picked up by the police were Shankar Surin, Mangal Surin and Nando Surin. On questioning Shankar Surin revealed that his parents had expired some days earlier. He suspected Singa Surin and his wife were sorcerers and using witchcraft had killed his parents. After his parents� demise Shankar Surin resolved to avenge their deaths. He met his friends Mangal Surin and Nando Surin and convinced them to help him in his bid to take revenge to which they agreed.
On the night of December 8, the trio had local brew and armed with sharp weapons went to Singa Surin�s house and killed him, his wife and their two children. Later, after murdering them, Shankar Surin and his two friends Mangal and Nando threw their weapons in the forest and returned to their respective homes.
West Singhbhum district SP Indrajit Mahtha said that immediately after the case was filed, an investigation team was formed led by Manoharpur Sub Divisional police officer. The team comprised SDPO Vimlesh Kumar Tripathy, Chhotanagara police station in-charge Tufail Khan, Trainee Sub Inspector Vivek Pal, ASI Vinod Singh and police jawans. The team, in the course of investigation nabbed the three murder accused.
